Pantone on Draught. The Ultimate Color Guide For Beer Lovers, Beertone, Is Now Available for Purchase.

Here's a Pantone-like color guide that is truly useful for Beer enthusiasts. A brilliant idea from Alexander Michelbach and Daniel Eugster of Switzerland, they have captured accurate colors and compiled a color matching system in booklet form, featuring 202 beers from Switzerland and relevant information about them.

The project was successfully funded via their own social media crowdfunding campaign and is now selling the Swiss edition Beertone color charts, which began shipping April 15th.

Below is an ad and a video they created to promote the Beertone concept via social media:

What is on each card of the Beertone color chart:

Three purchase options - which all come with Beertone stickers and mats, make great gifts for the Beer Aficionados in your life:

Now, if only they'd sell the wonderfully branded pilsner glasses and beer mugs on their own...

Animal Pocket Knives by David Suhami & How To Get One Of Your Own.

Israeli designer David Suhami's Animal Pocket Knives have been getting a lot of attention. The stainless steel and wood wildlife versions of the traditional Swiss army knife are actually undergoing production so you can have one of your own soon. With blades silhouetted to look like an Antelope, a Rhino and a Giraffe, complete with legs and tails, the pocket knives are adorable. How functional, I don't know, but they look as if they can at least open a beer bottle and that's good enough for me.

The story of the APK  and a cute little presentation video:
The Animal Pocket Knife was developed as David Suhami's design school project and rapidly got lot of attention throughout the web. It combines the idea of a Swiss army knife and a jungle safari in Africa. It is made from stainless steel to represent the current technology while the handles are made from fine Ipe wood to symbolize the traditional craft.

The knives will soon be available for purchase.

Spring Cleaning! New Orla Kiely Designs For Method.

above image composited by if it's hip, it's here

This Spring, method, the hip San Francisco company that makes cleaning products for the home and personal care is once again collaborating with Irish textile and fashion designer Orla Kiely. Having previously produced limited edition products with the designer, the new spring line features four new graphic patterns from Orla combined with method's iconic bottle designs.

The limited edition collection shown above, said to hit stores next month, includes handwash, dish soap + all - purpose cleaner in a range of delightfully fresh scents.

Orla's previous limited editions for method include the Primrose and Vanilla Chai handwashes which are still available for purchase

Here's a little interview method conducted with Orla regarding this new line:

method: this collection features four new fragrances: tomato vine, white nectarine, honeysuckle and cloudburst. is there one in particular that puts an extra spring in your step?
Orla: I love the idea of tomato vine! it’s that fresh earthy smell you get when you walk into a greenhouse full of tomato plants. so, for me, to re-create this smell for everyday use in my home is just divine!

method: can you share the inspiration behind the patterns you chose for these bottles?
Orla: it’s always fun choosing prints that work with the fragrances. sometimes some of the prints are a more literal match, like our “oval spot” print that is used for tomato vine, whereas cloudburst was more about the color scheme, using sky blue with pops of color. our “multi flower spot” print lent itself perfectly to the honeysuckle fragrance, reminding us of those beautiful summer bunches of honeysuckle blossom. and white nectarine teamed up brilliantly with one of our newer prints called “wallflower spot,” which to us looks like nectarines growing on a tree.

method: what’s your favorite part of the design process?
Orla: it’s always very exciting when a print finally comes to life. after hours of tweaking the color and playing with the scale, it’s wonderful to see the end design really pop.

method: what do you enjoy most about collaborating with other brands?
Orla: we are very picky with who we collaborate with. it is important to me that both brands share a similar sense of fun, quality and integrity, and each share a mutual respect for what the other does. I think only then can it be truly exciting and creative process with an outcome we can all enjoy.

method: both of our brands are over a decade old. how do you keep things fresh year after year?
Orla: it’s so important to mix things up. I like to see new exhibitions and watch classic old films. I love books, both new and old, and have a growing library of fashion, art, architecture and everything in between. I always love to find new references and inspiration each season, and when mixed with what I love it’s always an exciting journey to see what is created.’

Cool New Countdown Clock Tells The Time And How Many Days Left Until A Special - or Icky- Event.

Mr. Jones Watches has just introduced the Countdown Clock. A nice looking tabletop or wall-mounted clock that not only keeps time, but keeps track of how many days until a special - or in some cases, dreaded,  event.

You can choose from 34 different occasions to count down to. Some of the events are quite specific ("birthday," "anniversary," "holiday") while others are deliberately vague ("it's over," "freedom," "the big day"), so only you'll know what you're counting to. You can see the full list of events below.

The way the clock works couldn’t be simpler: you press a button to flip through the different events until you find the one you want to count to. Next you press the day count buttons to set the number of days you want to count to. That’s it! From then on the day count will decrease by one automatically every day. The clock can count down a maximum of 999 days for those who plan their life a long time in advance!

Specifications:
Size of clock: 220mm x 135mm x 50mm (height x width x depth)
Size of packaging box: 260mm x 180mm x 90mm
Case: PVC (CAS 9002-86-2)

Huggalos Offer The Comfort Of A Parents' Presence In Cute Cozy Characters.

There's no better way to ease your child's anxiety than to let them carry you around with them wherever they go. But chances are you're a busy parent who, sadly, cannot fit into their pocket. However, you can fit a photo of yourself and any loved one into an adorable plush character called a Huggalo.

Available in nine lovable styles, these cozy fleece dolls are outfitted with a protective pocket into which you can place a photo of your choice (or a drawing or love letter), giving your child the comfort of your presence without actually being there.

Created in the likenesses of Ballerinas, Superheroes, Monkeys, Mermaids, Pirates, Ninjas, DIY dolls (for autographs and doodles), even male and female War Heroes, Huggalos will undoubtedly become your child's best friend.

Huggalos Give Back!

Want to donate a Huggalo? When you donate a Doodle Doll to Children's Hospital Los Angeles, you are giving a patient undergoing treatment their very own therapeutic doll. Doodle Dolls help patients keep a photo of their family close by. Kids can draw doodles and make connections with their doctors and visitors by collecting signatures and good wishes on their very own doll.

Purchasing a Huggalo doll also supports our soldiers. REDORB has been supporting the Soldier’s Project since its founding. For every Brave Little Trooper you buy REDORB will donate 20% to the Soldiers Project.

Who's behind Huggalo?

The keepsake from RedOrb Concepts was invented by Donna Broder (shown above) to help her son, Noah, who was less than thrilled at the idea of pre-school. After what should have been first day jitters extended to weeks, Donna knew she had to get creative. Donna was inspired to create a product that would help Noah through this transition and help her leave the pre-school yard without both of them in tears. Donna gave Noah a photo to take with him to school, but the photo was soon torn. She thought, why not create something soft and huggable that you can take along to school or a play date? Thus the first Huggalo was born! Donna told Noah, missing someone you love is hard, but a Huggalo makes it a little softer.
